
Keeping Bathrooms Warm Without Blinding Your Guests
When we build heaters for bathrooms or outdoor spaces, the water is the obvious enemy. That’s why we stick to IP65 ratings—basically, we make sure they can handle heavy steam and the occasional direct splash without shorting out. But there’s a bigger problem that most people don’t think about until they turn the heater on: the light. Standard infrared lamps are blinding. Seriously. If you’ve ever looked directly into one, you know that harsh glare. It’s not just annoying; it can actually be hard on the eyes, especially for babies and toddlers whose eyes are still developing. So, we do things differently. We use special quartz coatings and halogen gas fills to shift the light. Instead of that piercing white glare, you get a soft, warm glow. It feels more natural. More importantly, it keeps the heat high while keeping the light at a level that won’t make you squint or trigger a blink reflex. Of course, none of that matters if the hardware falls apart. Bathrooms are brutal on equipment. Cheap seals rot or leak, and then you’ve got moisture hitting your electrical terminals. To stop that, we use heavy-duty silicone gaskets and tempered glass. We also use R7s or SK15 connectors. Why? Because bulbs eventually burn out. These connectors make it easy to just pop a new one in and get back to your day. There is a bit of a balancing act with the heat, though. High-wattage lamps give you that “instant warmth” feeling, but they can create intense hot spots. If you put a powerhouse lamp in a tiny bathroom, you might actually start melting the plastic fixtures nearby. It’s all about the math between the wattage and your ceiling height. We spend a lot of time tweaking the reflectors to make sure the heat spreads out evenly. You want a cozy room, not a concentrated beam of heat that could accidentally burn a child’s skin.
