The reflector coating is a thin layer applied in a vacuum. It throws that infrared energy forward, but it’s delicate. So always handle the tube by the ends. If you don’t, you risk flaking the coating. And the R7s connector is the standard for a reason. It gives you a solid, two-point contact that stays tight, even as the tube expands and contracts with the heat. On the job, these tubes are fast. Seriously fast. They hit temperature in seconds, which keeps cycle times short—ideal for things like plastic welding or spot heating. But with that kind of heat density comes a trade-off. Your machine’s cooling system has to be up to the task. Without enough airflow, the parts around the tube will get cooked.
